JONATHAN BARNETT WELCOMES END OF WAGES CAP

ICM Stellar Sports executive chairman JONATHAN BARNETT has welcomed a ruling which removes the damaging salary cap for clients in England’s lower leagues.

The cap, brought in by the English Football League in August without consulting players and agents, breached contract rules, an independent tribunal said. The ruling forces the leagues 1 & 2 back to a system that links player wages to club turnover.

Writing in Daily Mail, Jonathan – who helped lead the challenge – explains why the cap would have wrecked years of improvement in English soccer and why it must be resisted in the UK and elsewhere.
